12/20/00 Solos Debut in 2001
As of right now, dcTalk's next album (a still untitled EP) will release in April 2001. Not only will it spotlight 2 solo tracks from each of the guys upcoming solo debuts, but also a "new dc Talk song" (rumored to be the concert favorite, "40"). Following in July, Michael's album will release, then Kevin's in August, and Toby's last in September. On top of all this, dcTalk is also considering releasing an old school "mix-tape" album. It would contain tracks from their first 2 studio recordings updated with new beats and mixes.

11/21/00 A Message To Our Visitors.
Hey guys, it's Chris. I just wanted to let you know that you should all be thanking Jon. For the last month, roughly, he's been the temporary newsguy. I am at a real hard spot in my educational life. Basically... College is a bit more than I expected it to be. Pile my job(s?) on top of that and attempting to maintain a social life and it's just a big double-whammy. Things are beginning to slow down and soon, hopefully, I'll be back and better than ever. I'm working on several things right now and I'm glad someone, Jon, has been there to take a shot at this crazy news stuff. It can be hectic but it can also be a blast. We make this site for you guys and we're glad you dig it. In other news, I'd also like to say thanks to Mr. Max for the mention on National Television and I'd also like to say 'hey' to CCM for the site of the week. And finally, in a shameless plug, I'd like to inform you all about my OTHER activity. For those who don't know I have a weekly radio show on KAPU, 104.7 FM in Azusa, CA.(Live on the internet at http://kapu.apu.edu) The show is called Bleached Monkey and if you guys like music like dc Talk and the like, you'd dig the shop. I know it's totally shameless of me to plug it but hey... I can. Have a good one guys. Oh and have a great Thanksgiving, I know I will. I'm going home.

For anyone who missed Intermission: A Decade of dcTalk on PAX (which aired 11-17-00), there IS hope! Some PAX stations are reshowing the special in it's entirety this coming Friday (11-24-00) at the same time. Nice surprise, huh?

11/20/00 WebSite Status / Accolades.
First of all, ardent-enthusiast is temporarily closed because basically, we had too many visitors last week. This is actually a great thing in my opinion because it means the dcTalk community is continually growing! We're not exactly sure why the explosion of visitors came last week but we're looking in to fixing the problem. So in the future we hopefully won't ever have to close down the site again. In other news, a|e was the CCM Magazine Website of the Week last week. And Kevin Max also mentioned the site on Intermission: A Decade of dcTalk (which aired Friday, 11-17-00). Chris and I send many thanks to K-Max for the mentioning. YOU ROCK DUDE!

Word has it that the album will include two tracks from each members' solo effort, as well as a live recording of 40, the song they have been playing at concerts for all too long. 10/6/00 LOTS Of Intermission News.
How's this for news? Not only do we have the cover to the upcoming hits album, but we also have confirmed word on the first single from the album, which I currently have IN MY HANDS. The first single, added to radio today, is a remix of Say The Words called "Say The Words (Now)." The song is like a techno mix of Say The Words, and I personally dig it. Listen to your favorite Christian stations for the new song. And now for the unveiling of the cover... Drum Roll Please...

    9/30/00 Kevin's Acting Is Soupernatural.
HA! You thought it was a typo but NO! I got am email from Kevin reguarding the independant film mentioned on KevinMax.com It is not "The Trilogy," which is being highly rumored. The movie is called "Soupernatural." If you'll all remember back to November of last year, I brought you this news. The deal was that the movie was originally going to be called "The Trilogy" but the name was changed for an unknown reason. Anyways, Kevin said he worked with very awesome people and the trailer looks great. Before you go buck wild on the title, Kevin isn't too fond of it. He says it seems like too much of a dc Talk analogy and that was also the general feeling I got from e-mails from fans when I posted the original news piece, so I think we are pretty much all in agreement here. More news to you as I get it.
    (a|e)

    9/26/00 See dc Talk LIVE!
It's something that you can't really say much these days but dc Talk will be performing LIVE on November 17, to hype 'Intermission.' dc Talk will be doing a live acoustical concert on the PAX Netowrk. Get ready for this... Wait for it... OK, The set list will include FAN INPUT. Fans will be able to send in song requests and comments that will scroll along the bottom of the screen (Hmm, sounds kinda' like that MTV live stuff that was tried a while back, yeah?). Mark Your Calendars, vfrom Midnight until 2AM on the night of November 17, it's dc Talk!

    9/26/00 An Intermission?
Well, it's OFFICIAL. dcTalk.com has announced the name of the greatest hits album, in store November 21. Drum Roll Please... "dc Talk - Intermission: Greatest Hits." Yup, you heard it here... Second? Anyways, look for the now titled album in store, featuring two new tracks, on November 21, I know you'll all be there, as I will be too.
    (dcTalk.com)

9/6/00 More News Of The Hits Album?
Well, the project is STILL untitled. The guys seem to be cutting it close, but we still got time. According to CD Now, not me, the two new songs are "Sugar Coat It" and "Chance." Don't take this as fact because even I am not positive. I'm just giving you guys what it says. The album may also containt a live version of "40," however I personally doubt it. The song "Chance" was written by the guys and Goo Goo Dolls/REM sideman, Nathan December. More news as I get it.
    (CDNow)

    9/6/00 Toby Goes Country?
Well, evidentally the cowboy hat Toby became rather fond of during the Supernatural tour was a sign of things to come. Toby recently recorded a part in an upcoming SheDaisy song. SheDaisy is a female country trio. On September 26, their Christmas album will be released. Toby appears on the track "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing/Carol of the Bells."

8/31/00 Toby Rooting For A Band Mascot?
I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself. In the new Philmore video, "Smile At Me," Toby plays a band manager for the band, Philmore. In the beginning of the video he encourages the band that they need a mascot because music videos are "a thing of the past." It's a rather funny bit and if you get the chance I suggest you all give it a look. You can check out the video at 5MinuteWalk.com.

    8/27/00 Toby's A Busy Boy.
Toby was the emcee of sorts for a skateboard event at Portland Fest 2000, last weekend. He also joined GRITS and Kirk Franklin on stage amid a crowd of 85,000. They rocked the house. In other Toby news, he's make guest appearances on albums lately. Look for him on the album from new Atlantic artist Damita, as well as a guest appearance on the new project coming from RAZE titled The Plan, due in stores November 7. Toby ALSO is writing and performing the title track for an upcoming movie, entitled 'Extreme Days.' The movie is about Extreme Sports.

    8/27/00 dc Talk: The Hits.
Well, November 21 is closing in fast. Ah, the day we get new dc Talk material, WHOO! The project, which is still untitled, will feature the guys biggest hits plus two new songs, with Toby Mac in the producer's chair. Don't look for any material from the first two albums, as you may know they were neglected on two out of the three surveys took that were supposed to be used to help judge what goes on where. Ibelieve.com listed the songs from the first two albums but no one (but me!) voted for them I guess. Oh well, I'm sure whatever gets put out there will rock. On another note, hopefully I'll be posting the names of the songs, for those of you who don't already know, soon. Stay Tuned.
    (dcTalk.com)

    8/27/00 The Tait Band.
Well, it's happened. Michael Tait's band is assembled and getting to work on an album due out early next year. The Tait Band, consisting of Mike, Pete Stewart, and Lonnie and Chad Chapin, are hard at work. dcTalk.com says they will have sound and video clips soon, so we'll be sure to let you know when they are posted.

    8/27/00 FOUR!
It's back kids. dc Talk and Smitty are hitting the green to raise some money for PR Ministries. This Monday the guys will hit the green with MWS and others and see just who is the golf prodigy. If you're in Nashville try and check it out, although I'm hearing it's sold out and has been for quite some time. Expect pictures from the event here at a|e.

    8/15/00 It's A Toby Day.
Got plans this weekend? Well, if you live in Portland or near there, cancel them. Toby McKeehan is scheduled to perform this Saturday at Portland Festival 2000. No word on what exactly he could be doing but Gotee band Relient K is also performing that day so who knows? Also, Toby is th executive-producer on the debut album from the newest artist to sign to 40 Records. Sammy Ward is a praise and worship artist. Also working on the record was Otto "Sugerbear" Price, who produced four of the albums songs.

8/11/00 News On Kevin's Solo Album.
OK, I know it's not a snappy name but hopefully the news will make up for that. I have confirmed word that Adrian Bellew, who produced the first Jars Of Clay album, is already working on the Kevin Max solo effort. Kevin is said to be excited about it. More news later.

    7/20/00 Kevin To The Max.
I know, it's the name of a Kevin fan site, but J&E are my homegirl's and I'm hoping they don't mind I took the title, because it fits this news. About a month ago I got an email from the man himself, Kevin Max. I know, I should have shared sooner, but I've been beyond busy. He had some interesting things to say. He told me he was currently picking producers for the album with Virgin Records(the company releasing the album). He also went on to say that he has finished writing 20 songs and is very excited about it all. He is looking to release the album in early 2001, then tour in the Spring. He explains the album, still titled London Cowboy, as "eclectic rock and poetry."

    7/20/00 dc Talk: Hits?
We all knew it was coming and the official release date for the dc Talk Hits album is November 21, 2000. Look for the song to feature Two, count 'em two, never before relased, brand spankin' new songs. Want a say in what's going to be on the album? Well, well, well, Head on over to iBelieve.com where you can vote for your favorite dc Talk songs. I highly reccomend voting for songs from the first two albums, keep the classic dc Talk ALIVE! 5/3/00 Solos All Around?
According to the dc Talk mailing list Toby has been working on something that "Could be" a solo effort. It was described as guitar laced hip-hop and some pop. What comes to mind is the Jesus Freak CD, which to us Toby fans means something we have wanted to hear since the E.R.A.C.E. CD dropped. We will get Toby rapping on another CD, if this happens. Along with Mike and Kevin's solos, this could be awesome, don't you say?
    (dcTalk.com)

    5/3/00 Toby Mac Says: "WOW-EE!"
Look for a best of dc Talk album later in the year featuring two new songs. Preliminary reports say that the name of the album will be "WOW-EE: The Best Of dc Talk." The name comes from something Truett, Toby's son said one day, and Toby said "I thought it was a great name for a project." Toby also says he has heard several songs from both Mike and Kevin's solo albums, and likes what he hears. More on the new songs when we get it..

Gotee Records will be releasing a rap CD from John Rubens on May 23, 2000. I was informed by a guy with a pre-release that Toby does indeed rap on a track. The song, "God Is Love," features a verse by Mr. Mac, in which he "half-raps and sings." The CD is called "Are We There Yet?" It'll drop May 23, so be sure to check it out.

    4/14/00 Tait Kills The Rumors.

Michael Tait killed all rumors of dc Talk breaking up last week when he appeared at a Pete Stewart concert. He played several songs with Stewart including "Uphill Battle." They also jammed on several dc Talk songs, including an audience participation version of Jesus Freak. Also played was one of Tait's solo song, from a solo effort he is currently working on. He said, loud and clear, that dc Talk is NOT breaking up. Rumor has it the two also played a few unreleased dc Talk songs. The concert was held at Indiana Wesleyan University.

3/4/00 Fun Times At The Audio Show.
It's finally happened! Audio Adrenaline has been performing dcTalk's Jesus Freak (along with the Newsboys' classic Shine) at some of their shows on their Underdog Tour. During a recent show in Greensboro, NC, Audio A. performed both hits on their very own $25.00 Casio keyboards from Target. Audio fans seemed to really get into the covers and they got pretty loud when Ben Cissell (long time A.A. drummer) attempted to make his voice tremble on a long note during Jesus Freak like K-Max's voice so often does. Lead A.A. singer, Mark Stuart, was quoted as saying, "Eat your heart out K-Max."

    2/5/00 Note From Chris.E
This is going out to all of you wondering where the newsletter is. I am sorry. I have been so overwhelmed with school, and getting ready for college, not to mention my personal life, that the newsletter has been backburnered. I don't want to keep it that way though. I have had the actual newsletter done for a few months, but it is the list that is extremely hard to maintain, and our automated subscribe got all messed up so that has made it even harder. I apologize for the delay, but don't fret, it will return.

2/1/00 The Spirit Of dc Talk.
This ought to show all of you who say dc Talk is broken up, or whatever. Disbanded bands don't usually record new songs for TV Mini-Series. Look for dcTalk's new song, Spirit In The Sky, to be a part of the mini-series called Jesus.  No word on when this show will air, but the soundtrack for the movie will release March 28.  "Spirit In The Sky" was originally a 70's rock tune by Norman Greenbaum.  Look for the likes of 98 Degrees, Leann Rimes, Hootie And The Blowfish, Steven Curtis Chapman, Edwin McCain, and more to be on this album.

    dctalk.com)

    2/1/00 Toby The Producer.
While Toby takes his break he's doing an awful lot of producing.  He just wrapped up Jennifer Knapp's new album, Lay It Down.  He was executive producer, while Mark Stuart, Toby's Brother-in-law and lead singer of Audio Adrenaline, took the producer's chair.  Look for that album to drop February 29.  Also be on the look-out for Reliant K, a new band on Gotee Records.  From what I have heard, these guys rock; and from what people have told me, they rock even more.  You can check out a sound clip at:http://dctalk.com/october/toby.htm. Go buy Reliant K on April 25.  Now one more Gotee spotlight is shedding on DJ Maj.  You may remember him if you saw dc Talk's summer festival shows, as he was their DJ then.  His record is somewhat of a "mix tape" of CCM rappers.  Look for that on May 9.

    2/1/00 Curious Tait?

You may all remember a few years back when Mike formed a band called "Curious George."  Well, it looks like the idea has come back to him.  Mike is in the midst of forming a new band -- Tait.  Look for them to be working on a solo project later in the year.  Also know that, no, Mike is NOT leaving dc Talk, as the guys are taking a dc Talk "breather" this year.  Look for Mike to also do some work for the upcoming Heather Graham album, as well as do some tour dates with Pete Stewart.  We will post the dates in the tour section as soon as possible.

Toby and Mike will be making an in-store appearance in support of the Jesus Freaks book, released in November of 1999.  They will be signing copies of the book, taking pictures with fans, and all that other fun stuff.  You can check them out on February 26th, 6PM, at the Books-A-Million in the University Plaza, 519 S. Semoran Blvd, Winter Park, Florida.  This is in the Orlando area.  Look for a few more dates to come out soon.
